Voice Coils is a Brooklyn, NY ensemble led by composer and guitarist Sam Garrett alongside
guitarist/producer Caley Monahon-Ward (Extra Life, Feast of the Epiphany, Snowblink, Skeletons),
vocalist Mitski Miyawaki (Mitski), keyboardist Kelly Moran (Cellular Chaos), bassist Kevin
Wunderlich (Epistasis, Couch Slut), and drummer Cameron Wisch (Zona Mexicana, Porches,
Cende).
Voice Coils’ Heaven’s Sense EP, out on 12” vinyl on Shatter Your Leaves on April 1, 2016, is the
result of a writing and recording process that spanned over three years. In this time, Voice Coils
forged a vivid and complex musical language founded in the traditions of contemporary classical and
experimental music, and idioms of folk, rock, and metal.
As expressive melodic and harmonic threads are seamlessly woven into an ornate rhythmic and
structural patterning, Heaven’s Sense inspires an overwhelming sense of awe while affirming Voice
Coils as a unique and visionary ensemble.
