Though this might count against a lesser artist, we're talking about Rod Stewart, whose every artistic move has been firmly set in (and often crucial to) the period which produced it (want proof? Imagine the 70's without "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?.")
TONIGHT's tight, hard-panned production techniques and electronic instrumentation only serve to endear it to the listener, from the highly stylized, very soulful cover of "How Long" to the album's biggest track--the anthemic, unabashedly synth-driven "Young Turks," and onto the album's strangest choice of cover version--a delicate, reverent reading of Dylan's "Just Like A Woman." The album closes with the inspiring epic "Never Give Up On A Dream," co-penned with Bernie Taupin, and dedicated to cancer-stricken marathoner Terry Fox.

Format: CD

Genre: Rock

Released: 2011-03-21
