It's been eleven years on from the previous volume four, which either means the Africanism crew lost interest or spent the intervening decade finding collaborators worth the name. The answer is the latter: chosen Angolan semba elder Bonga, now 83, still with the same hoarse baritone, appears on a rework of 'Mulemba Xangola' alongside Cape Verdean singer Lura, who first recorded it with him on the 2000 Lusafrica album. Moonlight Benjamin brings Haitian creole into the opener, while Boddhi Satva handles 'Salsa House', his Afro house credentials doing exactly what you'd expect. Baron surfaces for a 'Block Party' remix of he and DJ Gregory's tune, returning a track from Vol I. Sinclar's Yellow Productions imprint, keeping the overall frame consistent across all five.
