While oftentimes appearing to be a collection of lighthearted pop numbers on the surface, a closer listen reveals lyrical reactions to media driven psychological attacks, political campaigns against queer people in America, and her struggle to navigate life in that world. A deeply personal album through the lens of optimistic instrumentation and rhythms, CM Ultra certainly proves to be worth the wait.
