It becomes clear within minutes of listening The Fake Boys that they are a musical chameleon, or maybe a mirageâsomething one moment, another the next, and sometimes two or three things at once. There are verses on I Love My Life When Youâre Around that throb with the Ramoneâs snarling energy before slipping into thick psychedelia, flush with echo and wah, then list into a bridge reminiscent of the pacific northwestâs rawest riffs. Still, mere points of reference may not prepare listeners for just how ambitious and motley I Love My Life When Youâre Around actually is.
