Ginuwine's silky, R&B-inflected hip-hop is further smoothed out on 2005's BACK II DA BASICS. Unlike some of his previous releases, BACK II DA BASICS favors ballads and slow jams first and foremost. Sultry tunes like "When We Make Love" and "Want U To Be" dominate, but even more uptempo tracks like "Secrets" have a gentle, undulating vibe that insinuates its way into the listener's hips. Ginuwine is in fine voice throughout, and crisp, detail-rich production (from the artist himself) adds luster to this collection of simmering bedroom tracks.
