Hoss (1995) is a foundational pillar of 90s skate punk that helped define the signature "Fat Wreck Chords" sound-fast, melodic, and technically proficient. Frontman Joey Cape introduced introspective, melancholic songwriting to the genre on iconic anthems like "Violins," proving aggressive punk could carry emotional weight. Furthermore, Derrick Plourde's innovative, lightning-fast drumming raised the technical bar for the entire scene, heavily influencing generations of punk drummers worldwide.
