Drawing influence equally from the giants of traditional American folk and country music (Bill Monroe, George Jones, Doc Watson, Dolly Parton) and contemporary songwriters such as Gillian Welch, Jason Molina (Magnolia Electric Co./Songs:Ohia), and Phil Elverum (Mt. Eerie), Richard weaves together humor and despair in deeply moving and human songs “full of grief and praise; stories we all know.”
