DESCRIPTION
2LP 140gm black vinyl. Recorded at London's legendary Hammersmith Odeon on 23 December 1980, How The West Was Won captures Madness at the height of their early success. Broadcast originally as part of the BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert series, the performance finds the band riding a wave of chart success following the release of Absolutely and showcasing the infectious energy that made them one of Britain's most beloved live acts. The concert features classic fan favourites including "One Step Beyond", "My Girl", "Embarrassment", "Baggy Trousers" and "The Prince", highlighting the band's unique blend of ska, pop, reggae and British humour. Captured before a passionate hometown audience, the recording perfectly preserves the excitement and charisma of a young band rapidly becoming one of the defining acts of the era. This historic BBC recording presents the complete concert as originally performed, including the encore and the rarely heard "Crying Shame", providing a fascinating snapshot of Madness during one of the most important periods of their career. The performance remains a vibrant testament to the group's reputation as one of the UK's finest live bands and a key document of the late-1970s and early-1980s ska revival movement
