To commemorate the 50th anniversary of his solo debut, legendary Japanese guitarist Masayoshi Takanaka celebrates his milestone with remastered releases of his most beloved works from the Kitty Years.
As a pioneering figure in the global Japanese fusion boom, Takanaka continues to captivate fans across Japan, Europe, and the U.S. These special reissues were remastered and cut at London’s Abbey Road Studios using high-resolution audio transferred directly from the original master tapes. All three titles were handled by Abbey Road’s renowned engineer, Alex Wharton. Each comes as a 180g heavyweight vinyl release, pressed on colored vinyl inspired by the original jacket artwork.
"CAN I SING?" (originally released October 5, 1983): 180g clear blue vinyl
Remastered and cut by Alex Wharton (Abbey Road Studios, London)
Takanaka’s 10th original studio album, showcasing his signature “singing guitar.”
With guest appearances by Takao Kisugi (vocals), Yuji Toriyama (rhythm guitar), Yoshihiro Naruse (Casiopea; bass), and Daiji Okai (Yonin Bayashi; drums). Blending techno-based sequencing with Takanaka’s warm, expressive guitar sound, the album radiates energy and melodic joy.
