Description

LP version. Edition of 690; first time on vinyl. Marina present the long-awaited reissue of The Bathers' Lagoon Blues, originally released in 1993. The Bathers (aka Chris Thomson) from Glasgow are somewhat of a Scottish national treasure. Listen to these albums, and you'll know why. Enter a musical universe of intricate arrangements, lush orchestrations, swoony vocals, and songs of deep emotional beauty. With nods to Van Morrison, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Tim Hardin, and Leonard Cohen. Moody Wurlitzers and mesmerizing pianos are joined by violins, accordions, and acoustic guitars to create a hypnotic, totally unique sound. Chamber pop at its very best. Isobel Campbell from Belle & Sebastian plays cello on Lagoon Blues. Turn the lights down low, turn up the volume, and get on a trip with these very special, truly cinematic and, yes, quite spectacular albums.
