Tampa, Florida legends the Tropics released a stack of great records in the sixties. But none of those singles is more coveted by garage collectors than their ’66 masterpiece, “You Better Move;” a tambourine-bashing, harmonica-wailin,' epic screamer. With its super-threatening lyrics, delivered in a pathologically aggravated state by Tropics lead vocalist Mel Dryer, this record serves as a master class in anger mismanagement. “You Better Move," incidentally, was co-penned by guitarist Buddy Pendergrass and a former Tropic, Dave Burke (who soon appeared on two Standells albums on Tower). B-side “It’s You I’ll Miss” finds the versatile Tropics in a Byrds bag; with a jangly, expertly-sung original. This Sundazed single places the Tropics at the top of the list of ’66 garage bands, from Florida or any corner of the US of A.On translucent red vinyl!
