Description
First time on CD! New England duo HAVE A NICE LIFE describe their sound as "Depressive Post-Industrial Doomgaze" - a designation as good as any for a group that seamlessly brings together the disparate tones of shoegaze, sludge, post-punk, metal, industrial, and just about every outr genre there is. Not content with merely bending and blending genres to their will, Dan Barrett and Tim Macuga have created a sound that is immediate and essential and uniquely theirs, in the process garnering a rabid cult following. The Unnatural World is the follow up to Have a Nice Life's cult classic 2009 debut, Deathconsciousness. Originally self-released on CDr, Deathconsciousness quickly grew into an internet phenomenon. Subsequent vinyl pressings became sought after collectors items, and a favorite for eBay vinyl flippers. The creation of Deathsconsciousness was a massive endeavor; a double album filled to the brim with long songs and a harrowing 70 page zine which was part novel, part essay and part liner notes. The Unnatural World is the band's long awaited follow-up and sees them eschew the length of their debut in favor of concision and focused songs, without sacrificing what makes them unique. Have a Nice Life's Dan and Tim are also the co-founders and curators of the anti-establishment imprint Enemies List Home Recordings. For over 10 years Enemies List has released high-quality gloom inspired bedroom artists, acquiring a legion of followers along the way. The Unnatural World marked Have a Nice Life's first time collaborating with San Francisco label The Flenser.
