Over a forty year career drummer Jeff Williams musical associates have ranged from Stan Getz, Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, and Paul Bley, to Bill McHenry, Ethan Iverson and Tony Malaby. For 'Another Time' Jeff selected musicians who are leaders in their own right. Duane Eubanks, trumpet (Dave Holland, Mulgrew Miller, Elvin Jones) and John O'Gallagher, alto saxophone (Joe Henderson, Maria Schneider, Ben Monder) form a complimentary and distinctively contrasting frontline. In demand bassist John Hébert (Andrew Hill, Fred Hersch, Mary Halvorson) provides harmonic counterpoint and compelling solos while working in tandem with Jeff to shape the rhythmic contours of the music. The group has developed its singular sound over the last two years while performing in New York jazz clubs like Smalls and the Cornelia Street Café. The resultant music on 'Another Time' is melodic, adventurous and resolutely modern. In addition to Jeff's material, each member of the group contributes a composition, adding his own personal touch. The repertoire balances contemporary cutting edge sensibility with tuneful accessibility. Jeff currently divides his time between New York and London, where he has performed with Kenny Wheeler, Evan Parker, Norma Winstone, Nikki Iles, Hans Koller, Martin Speake and many more.
